How do I know if my brake drums and shoes need to be replaced? If your power door lock actuator is not functioning as it should, you won't be able to lock and unlock your car doors without having to do so yourself manually. Not only does this make entering and exiting your vehicle a little more complicated, but it also makes the valuables and belongings you leave in your car or truck more vulnerable to theft. If your door lock actuator is broken, it must be replaced as soon as possible to restore the convenience that power door locks bring and avoid the increased threat of burglary. Can I replace a power door lock actuator myself? Replacement of the car door lock actuator is about as complex as replacing a door handle. The inside door panel must be removed to get access to the actuator. Electrical connections should require unclipping and moving out of the way. In most cases, the lock actuator is held in place with screws or bolts but may use rivets as well.
