Yorkville Sound SA153, Synergy Array Series 3-Way Powered Portable PA Speaker - 15 Inch

The Yorkville Sound SA153 is a professional powered portable PA speaker from the Synergy Array Series system and is designed to be used as the main full-range top and used in conjunction with the SA315S and SA221S powered subwoofers to create a scalable point-source sound system well suited for professional sound reinforcement companies, rental houses, touring bands, musicians, festivals, concerts, mobile DJs, and other sound providers. The heart of the SA153 full range speaker incorporates Tom Danley's Paraline Lens and Synergy Horn technologies, which provides remarkably high output and pristine clarity. The SA153's Paraline lens is loaded with a coaxial compression driver along with a 15" woofer mounted on a 22.5°H x 45°V constant directivity horn. By channeling the sound waves along equidistant paths, the Paraline lens converts the point source compression driver into a line source with constant phase and amplitude. The result is a completely balanced sound field and coverage pattern across the cabinet's horizontal and vertical planes. The unusual design of the SA153 allows the cabinets to be placed side by side without interference. Cabinets can be placed together to cover as wide a pattern as desired, including 360 degrees, without any lobing or interference patterns.

The technologically advanced system provides flexibility and power without being overly complex. The rear panel features a simplified set of controls for integrating the speaker into any environment. There are indicator LEDs for clip, limit, and activity. The Level control knob attenuates or boosts the speaker's output, while a dedicated HF Adjust selector helps keep the frequency response flat when using an array of multiple cabinets. A Mode Switch (Sub/No Sub) allows the speaker to be used without a sub (No Sub) with a high-pass of 40 Hz, while the Sub selection utilizes a 100 Hz HP filter.

The SA153 has a single XLR input with two parallel XLR outputs for connecting additional SA135 full range and SA315S or SA221S subwoofers. Up to 20 subwoofers/tops can be daisy-chained without signal loss (with balanced cables). The rugged enclosure is made from 15mm Birch plywood with a tough speaker paint coating. The speaker features a rail and lockbar rigging system, which makes flying the system a safe and simple affair. The lockbar also attaches to the cabinet dolly for safe and easy transport. Interlocking UHMW feet and cups are also on the top and bottom to ensure stability when stacking. A power cable is included.

Paraline Lens Technology

The unique geometry of the patented Paraline Lens is capable of producing a precisely shaped wavefront that matches the horn's physical coverage pattern. It does this while providing a continuous horn throat from cabinet to cabinet on the horizontal plane. This virtually eliminates the comb filtering usually associated with traditionally arrayed cabinets. The Paraline Lens is fed by a high-output, mid-high driver which results in seamless coupling and a matching coverage pattern.

Synergy Horn Technology

The Synergy Horn configuration of the Paraline Lens coupled with a single 15" high-output woofer seamlessly couples the output from both drivers while performing as a true point source. The horn utilizes the entire front area of the cabinet maximizing efficiency and directivity control.
