Airflow-insured subs get hot as they play, and the heat usually gets vented away via a port in the back of the sub's pole piece. Alpine recessed the pole port and added cooling air vents on the sides of the frame, allowing you to use an enclosure with an inside clearance of as little as 4-3/16" without blocking critical airflow.
